Melissa L. Hirn, J.D., AAI, ARM, is the President and Owner of Sphere HR & Risk Masters, LLC, an HR, employment, and risk management compliance consulting company. She works with small businesses and their owners, as well as municipalities and nonprofit organizations, to navigate employment law compliance, HR operations, and risk management issues.
Melissa brings a unique perspective by integrating legal insight and property and casualty insurance coverage knowledge into her consulting work, helping clients make practical, defensible decisions as their organizations grow and evolve. She is also the owner of Hirn Law, PLLC, where she provides related legal advisory services.
She studied at the University of Dayton School of Law (J.D.), where she served as an Assistant Editor of the Dayton Law Review, and at Western Michigan University (B.S., magna cum laude). She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and serves on the Insurance and Indemnity Section Council, where she also chairs the Programming Committee. Melissa is also a licensed insurance producer and holds the Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
She has been published in a variety of legal and industry publications, including the Michigan Bar Journal, Michigan Lawyers Weekly, and ICLE Michigan Insurance and Law Practice.
Melissa is passionate about helping organizations build compliant, well-structured workplaces and is known for her practical, business-oriented approach. Outside of her professional work, she is an avid golfer and two-time club champion, and she also performs professionally as a violinist—interests that reflect the discipline, focus, and attention to detail she brings to her work.
